Chewy Chocolate Chip Banana Cookies

IMG_4131

I have a bit of an obsession when it comes to bananas..and once they start to turn banana-bread-ready brown, I absolutely cannot stop myself from using them in a baked good. My usual go-to recipe is Chocolate Chip Banana Bread, but even my friends have become a little tired of my usual fix! So, as an alternative I decided to search for a banana cookie recipe (which is surprisingly hard to find), and after pages of Foodgawker research, I eventually came across these delicious looking chocolate chip banana oatmeal cookies. In my opinion, a perfect cookie is a soft and chewy and these fit the requirement perfectly! These amazing cookies taste like banana bread in cookie form, which I obviously love. Even my sister ,who claims to despise anything to do with oatmeal, deemed these cookies one of my best! You must add this recipe to your to-do list..they are absolutely fantastic! Enjoy!!!

(PS: I’m basically on summer vacation now, so expect more frequent recipe posts during the next couple of weeks! Please leave any suggestions for recipes in the comments below!)

Hi everybody, happy Sunday! It is lovely here, really sunny and gorgeous. Today I’m sharing an awesome recipe from Carissa of at 350 degrees! She is also in high school, like me, and creates the most amazing desserts. She has this Ferrero rocher cake that makes me drool every time I see it (just kidding). She recently feature my cinnamon rolls on her blog, which was so sweet of her, and I decided I would share these awesome cookies with you guys. I made some like these, but with rasins and other things. These are perfect though, when you have less time or don’t want as many things in your cookie.
Enjoy the recipe and make sure to go follow Carissa! :)

  2. I’ve been seeing so many banana recipes these days! I only like bananas when they’re a little bit green so when they turn all yellow, I always have to cook with them! I have some browning bananas on my counter now. Guess what I’ll make tomorrow? :)

  3. Yum they look delicious and with chocolate and banana it doesn’t get much better than this.. I’ve been looking for a good cookie recipe to try for a while! I will see if I can recreate these sugar, gluten and dairy free!

  8. So, I am wanting to make some Banana Cookies tomorrow, since I’m also getting a bit tired of my mom hogging our amazingly sugary over-ripened bundles of joy for bread every single time (I love it, but still…. every time? I wanna make more stuff!). this occasion I plan on making some delicious cookies. However, I sorta wanna sans the oatmeal, and instead add in Brown Butter like the recent chocolate chip recipe you did, and was wondering if you had any insight into the necessary ingredient proportions that might require. Do I need to add any more or less of flour, butter, sugar, baking powder, etc, or should everything just stay the same?

    • Hmm, that’s certainly an interesting request. Substituting the butter in the recipe for the same amount of brown butter should work out fine as long as you refrigerate the dough before baking. I would recommend using the oatmeal just because it gives the cookies more body, but if you choose to decrease the amount or totally ignore it, you should add some more flour to balance the wet ingredients (maybe add 1/2 the amount of flour for the amount of oatmeal you removed). Let me know how they turn out; I’m very curious!
