Meet the Chef

Hello, my name is Carissa. I’m a high school student with an unhealthy obsession with baking. Baking is my one-stop cure-all; despite a hectic life, I always find comfort in frosting a cake or making brownies to bring to school. Having a bad day? Bake. Want to make some friends? Bake. Need a new (and delicious!) hobby? Bake. For me, baking has always been both an art and a science, so let’s put on our lab coats and enter the kitchen!

    • My favorite way to have actirhokes is in a cheesy dip with spinach. But of course that ruins pretty much any nutritional value. ;P How do you eat yours? Please do me a favor and post a pic of your new haircut. :) I’ve been eying that look for months now, and I still can’t decide if I want it or not. Silly me.xoxo,Bree

  1. I’ve only newly started baking because I only recently discovered stevia, a natural sugar replacement. The artificial sugar replacements are all bad for people, so my stevia discovery (healthy for kids and diabetics too) has been an epiphany for me. Most desserts have way too much fat and sugar for my lazy body so these adapted recipes are proving fun and, for me, edible! Other people usually never know the difference…

  2. Yes cooking and baking does relieve stress. Just when I think that is it no more..I go cook or bake something and I feel better.

Thanks for sharing these things about the writer of a great food blog.

  7. Hi, Carissa. I really enjoyed your blog and wondered if you were interested in submitting a post to a new event called Our Growing Edge. The event aims to compile a monthly snapshot as to what bloggers are doing in terms of new challenges with food. This monthly event aims to connect and inspire us to try new things.

A growing edge is the part of us that is still learning and experimenting. It’s the part that you regularly grow and improve, be it from real passion or a conscious effort.

I hope you can make it.

  8. Hi Carissa,
Thanks for liking my pancake post and following by blog.
Your food blog looks great! All your baking creations look really lovely.
I’m doing a sweet & savoury challenge – using vegetables or fruit in a sweet dish and then in a savoury dish.
You’re doing an amazing job – well done.
    Thanks, R.

      • I loved the suggestion of wine or bread. I aedlary practice the other restaurant rules, but I have one other suggestion. Restaurant dinners are nearly always large enough for at least 2 meals. I will often ask for a take-home box WITH my meal and put at least half of my meal in the box BEFORE I eat. This works on the road, too, if you have a cooler and hotel room with a microwave.

  9. Dear Carissa

Baking is a beautiful gift that manifests creativity, is relaxing and allows one to slow down. More importantly it acts as a bridge of love that connects people through the sharing of food. I enjoyed reading through your biography. Take great care.
    God bless
